What to Watch, 5-9-12
T: ABC owns this night! (You’d think ratings would be better.)
The Middle kicks off ABC’s awesome Wednesday schedule. It’s all about Brick, Axl and Sue tonight so it will be fantastic (despite M’s hatred of the show!). I love how acerbic and then sweet it can be.
M: I just can’t win. You have a sentimental fondness for formulaic sitcoms, even if they are not well done. Like this one.

Next up is the awesome Suburgatory. If you’ve read our separate top ten sitcom columns, you know this is one show M and I agree on. (And you should read our columns!)

Next we have Modern Family. This is M’s number one comedy. And my number 2. Tonight looks to be a mix of product placement and hilarity (they go to Disneyland and are produced by ABC/Disney). Product placement aside, the idea of Phil and Luke at Disneyland is awesome. And they are bringing back the awesome Dylan, last seen becoming a ranch hand. Good times!

The Bitch in Apt. 23 is next. One of the nicest surprises of the season. And renewal is looking good for this one.

Finally, the awesome Revenge. I literally cannot get enough of Madeleine Stowe. She owns this show. She can take everything they throw at her and hit a freaking homerun. She’s the real deal. The rest of the cast is perfection. And my heart will always belong to Emily Van Camp. 8p-11p.

M: Nice pic! Apparently, the ladies shop at the same no-pants shop as Christina Aguilera.
CBS has Survivor. Even having not watched every week this season (formerly competing NBC programming…formerly), I’ve enjoyed the hell out of this season. Maybe it’s all location and HD. Maybe it’s good casting. Whatever it is, it’s been fun. And it’s almost over. 8p.

My guiltiest of pleasures, Hot in Cleveland and Happily Divorced are back tonight. I should stop calling them that because it sells them short. No - you should feel guilty. (M’s never going to give them their fair shot. Correct) Laugh out loud, old school comedy, both. Wendy Malick, especially, on Hot in Cleveland, is really fantastic. Give these TV Land comedies a shot. 7p satellite, 10p cable.

E!’s got The Soup. You cannot EVER go wrong with Joel McHale. EVER. 7p satellite, 10p cable.

Happy Viewing!
