Movies with the most laughs…um, very debatable
T: Top 10 Comedy Films via Lovefilm
‘Airplane’—which features classic one liners such as ‘I am serious and don’t call me Shirley’—came out top in research conducted by a panel of members of movie subscription service Lovefilm.
Top 10 Films With The Highest ‘Laugh A Minute’ Scores:
1. Airplane - 3 Laughs A Minute
T: I can get onboard with this. It’s a HILARIOUS movie!
M: A total classic.
2. The Hangover - 2.4 Laughs A Minute
T: No way is this number 2. Yes, it’s funny. But no way.
M: Deserves this. This is a great comedy.
3. The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad ! - 2.3 Laughs A Minute
T: Infinitely more funny than The Hangover! I fell on the floor as a kid watching this.
M: You were a kid. I think The Hangover deserves its rank.
4. Superbad - 1.9 Laughs A Minute
T: Again, like the movie a lot. But fucking top 10?! NO!
M: There is something wrong with you.
5. Borat - 1.7 Laughs A Minute
T: You’ve got to be kidding me.
M: There is something with you. Did you see even this movie? I had tears streaming down my face laughing.
6. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy - 1.6 Laughs A Minute
T: Deserves a spot.
M: Possibly a higher one.
7. American Pie - 1.5 Laughs A Minute
T: Absolutely deserves a spot. But this gets tough when you talk “of all time.”
8. Bridesmaids - 1.4 Laughs A Minute
T: Yes. Higher ranking needed.
M: No - it’s in the right spot. Very funny, but has that 45 minute Apatow lag.
9. Shaun of the Dead - 1.3 Laughs A Minute
T: To be fair, didn’t see. But I cannot imagine this deserves to be here.
M: Perhaps you should see it. It’s really, really funny. I can see it top 10.
BI10. Life of Brian - 1.2 Laughs A Minute
T: Ick.
M: Classic, although not on my top 10.

So tell me. Where is Caddyshack? Where is There’s Something About Mary? AND WHERE THE FUCK IS DROP DEAD GORGEOUS?!!!!!!!!!!!! I’d also question Wet Hot American Summer not being included. (M: Drop Dead Gorgeous does not deserve a spot on this list — it’s in no way top 10. V. funny, but not top 10.)
(T: Bullshit—Drop Dead Gorgeous knocks The Hangover and Superbad out of this list instantly!! It is one of the most hilarious movies of all time!)
M: I agree that the above all deserve a spot. But also: Where is Zoolander? Where is Best in Show?
If we’re talking “all time” this is way too skewed to the present, Life of Brian excluded. Probably need to bump Borat, Bridesmaids & sadly, Shaun of the Dead to make room for the classics we both just named.
(T: Well…we agree on something!)
